RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS
First Holy Communion
Congratulations to the students who celebrated the Sacrament of First Holy Communion last Sunday and welcome them into the Catholic family. This celebration is the result of preparation by teachers at Nazareth School and Father Joe in order to ensure that the children understand the significance of the choice they make in receiving this sacrament. These children are saying ‘Yes’ to following Jesus and becoming a member of our Catholic family.
Reconciliation
Thursday night at 7pm, there will be a compulsory parent information night for those parents wishing to present their child for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Remember, students must have completed the Sacrament of Reconciliation before preparing for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. Father Joe will be recording names at one of the weekend masses this weekend, either 5pm on Saturday or 9am on Sunday.
Class Masses
Next Wednesday Year 6 will be attending the 9:00 am parish Mass. We welcome any parents, family members or friends who wish to join their children at any of the Wednesday Masses.
Mini Vinnies
Mini Vinnies will be running a Christmas Appeal commencing Monday, 28 November and will run for two weeks. They are asking for donations to support the poor and vulnerable of our community who are struggling to prepare Christmas for themselves and their families. Next week, for a coin donation, students will be able to decorate a biscuit in a Christmas theme at recess and lunch time. Mini Vinnies students will be in the space outside the Stage 3 building and all students are welcome to come and enjoy a self-decorated Christmas biscuit.
Classes are asked to donate the following items:
Kindergarten - Chips, lollies, breakfast cereals, dried pasta, rice and sauce jars
Stage 1 - Christmas food, drinks (milo, cordial, fizzy drink), christmas pudding or christmas cake, long life custard
Stage 2 - Christmas decorations, canned fruit, pancake shakers
Stage 3 - table decorations, tea, coffee, long life milk and sugar
All donations can be left under the Christmas tree in the library and will be accepted until Friday, 9 December. They will then be presented to members of the local St Vincent de Paul chapter. Thank you in anticipation of your generous support.
