LEARNING with 1S

1S have had a fantastic and very busy start to 2023! We have settled into the routine of Year 1 very well and have worked hard, earning lots of rewards for all of our efforts.

The learning gains have been endless and we have celebrated many special occasions. We have done so much it’s too hard to list it all.

So far this term we have been writing descriptions connected to the characters in the books that we have been reading.  We also have been learning comprehension strategies and are developing an understanding that reading is all about thinking - reading for meaning!

We attended Mass with our families and had a great Faith and Learning visit with those that could celebrate with us.

We are all loving to learn about History and are very engaged in our learning. We were able to show each other someone important from our past. We had some grandparents that traveled to Australia by boat a very long time ago.
On Tuesday we celebrated Harmony Day and discussed what the word Harmony means. The children then recorded Harmony means ….

1S is very proud of all our learning! We are looking forward to Easter when we can spend time with our families.
