ANNOUNCEMENTS

Semester One Reports

Semester One reports will be made available to parents in COMPASS from Wednesday 21st July for the students in Years 1 -6.

Student achievement is reported using the Common Grade Scale. The Common Grade Scale summarises the standard of achievement associated with each grade. It describes the depth of knowledge and understanding and the range of skills that students working at that standard typically show.

The Common Grade Scale describes performance at each of five grade levels.

A

The student has an extensive knowledge and understanding of the content and can readily apply this knowledge. In addition, the student has achieved a very high level of competence in the processes and skills and can apply these skills to new situations.

B

The student has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the content and a high level of competence in the processes and skills. In addition, the student is able to apply this knowledge and these skills to most situations.

C

The student has a sound knowledge and understanding of the main areas of content and has achieved an adequate level of competence in the processes and skills.

D

The student has a basic knowledge and understanding of the content and has achieved a limited level of competence in the processes and skills.

E

The student has an elementary knowledge and understanding in few areas of the content and has achieved very limited competence in some of the processes and skills.

The information provided by teachers in the report comes from both formal and informal assessment activities and informal observations. The data is gathered over time and in different situations.

A-E Grades are only one aspect of the student report. Further information is provided in the written comments and the effort grades. Parent-teacher interviews are another opportunity for teachers to provide valuable information about your child’s progress at school.

Parking

We have recently noticed an increasing number of parents/carers using the bus bay and the staff parking area to drop off their children in the morning.

For the safety of all students, and to minimise the risk of receiving a parking violation fine, please do not use the staff car park behind the school administration building and please do not stop in the bus bay on Glider Ave.
