LEARNING with 4A

As usual we have had a very busy start to Term 3 but the highlight for this term is always “Grandparent’s Day.”

We welcomed so many of our grandparents into out classroom following Mass this morning. Some of us interviewed our grandparents finding out what it was like for them when they were our age.

Question: What games did you play when you were my age?

Answers: skipping, board games, marbles, hop scotch, hide and seek, murder in the dark, elastics, soccer, handball

Question: When you were my age what did you want to be when you were older?

Answer: archaeologist, nurse, tradie, teacher, shop assistant, secretary, programer.

Question: What did you like doing with your friends?

Answer: go to the beach, scouts, play in the cubby house, street cricket, skipping, dance, play tennis, ride our bikes, fishing, play on the monkey bars.

We also created acrostic poems and listed the ‘Top Ten’ things we loved most about our grandparents. Some of our reasons were;

  1. Gives big hugs
  2. Cooks with me
  3. Tells me stories
  4. Is funny
  5. Takes me places
  6. Is cheeky
  7. Tells me stories of my family
  8. Baby sits me
  9. Is beautiful
  10. Is good at drawing

They loved seeing the portraits that we had created of them. The technique we used was ‘collage’.

We took heaps of photos to remember this special day and we even had our own big photo frame. We love our Grandparents!
