Feast of Mary Mackillop

Each year on 8 August (Tuesday), we celebrate the Solemnity of Saint Mary of the Cross Mackillop, Australia’s beloved first saint. On this day, we celebrate the important role she played in making education accessible for children in our country.  Mary Mackillop devoted her life to ensuring a holistic Catholic education for children from rural and poor families, where children would not or could not go.  For these children and their families, Mary opened a door of hope into the future. Students will be learning about Saint Mary Mackillop in their religion lessons this week.

Feast of the Assumption

Next Tuesday, 15 August, we will be having a whole school mass for the Feast of the Assumption for the Blessed Virgin Mary.  Assumption Day commemorates the belief that when Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, died, her body was "assumed" into heaven to be reunited with her soul, instead of going through the natural process of physical decay upon death.  Mass will be at 11:30am and we will be celebrating this feast day with the students from Stella Maris.  We would love families and friends of students to join us.

Wednesday Mass and Faith & Learning visits

This week Year 1 (Faith and Learning visit) Year and 2 (Mass only)  will be attending 9am mass on Friday. Year 1 will be having their learning visit to the classroom with parents.  Year 2 will take their turn with parent visits in Week 8.  Families of both Years 1 and 2 students are warmly welcome to attend mass with their children.  We love to see as many families as possible.
