RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS
Wednesday Mass and Faith & Learning visits
This week Year 4 will attend 9am mass on Wednesday and will have the classroom visit by parents. Next week Years 1 and 6 will be attending 9am mass and Year 6 will have their final learning visit this year to the classroom with parents. Families of all students are warmly welcome to attend mass with their children. We love to see as many families as possible.
First Holy Communion
Workshops for First Holy Communion have begun. This week is the first of four workshops. As the Transition to Kindergarten playgroup is happening in the hall at the same time as the workshops, the Tuesday, 7:45am workshops will be held in the Year 5 classroom. Remember, the booklets are to be completed at the workshops with your child.
Catholic Mission Month
This month marks Catholic Mission Month. The theme of this year’s mission month is ‘Hearts on Fire Feet on the Move’, renamed ‘Socktober’ raising awareness for the life-giving work of lay and religious missionaries around the world. Students will be making their own ‘sockball’ and will participate in a sockball shootout for the honour of being the best shooter on Friday, 27 October. For the privilege of entering the competition, children are asked to bring in a gold coin donation with all money raised going to children in Timor-Leste providing vital medicines and health support. Thank you for your support in assisting those in need.
All Saints Day
Wednesday, 1 November is All Saints Day. There will be a whole school mass, with Stella Maris, at 11:30am. As this is the All Saints Church parish feast day, all students are asked to come dressed as a Saint to celebrate the day. Each class has been given a Saint in which to dress up as, along with a symbol for that Saint. Teachers will communicate this to their individual classes.
All mass times can be found in the All Saints Parish Bulletin and all other important information. A link can be found on the Parish Website: https://www.dow.org.au/parish/all-saints-catholic-parish-shellharbour-city
