Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for your incredible support in voting for Nazareth in the Wave FM School of the Year Competition! There has been much excitement surrounding the entry and the children thoroughly enjoyed creating the video. A special shout-out goes to Mrs Leahnore Wright (4A) and Mrs Stephanie Rowles (6U) for their dedication in writing the song and producing the video. If you haven’t voted today, I urge you to do so using the link within this newsletter.

As previously mentioned, Semester 1 Reports will be available on Compass from Wednesday 3 July. Learning Conversations for students in Years 1-6 occurred in Term 1 as per our reporting and assessment schedule. Kindergarten parents will be provided with a mid-year learning conversation opportunity at the commencement of next term, information on how to book a time will be shared with families next week.

It is important that you carefully read the reporting information contained within this newsletter. This is important because all students will be receiving this reporting format for the first time. To determine grades, teachers use a range of assessment information to make on-balanced judgements of student learning. This includes Information from less structured assessments (e.g. observations and student work samples) that is considered along with more formal assessments (e.g. programmed summative assessment tasks) to develop reliable judgements of demonstrated student learning. If you have any questions about your child’s report, please contact the class teacher via the front office.

I am thrilled to announce an exciting event at our school, the Mini Olympics Day. The day will be held on Friday 26 July, this coincides with the opening day of the Paris 2024 Olympics. The Mini Olympics Day will involve opening and closing ceremonies, and fun rotating activities for the children to participate in while earning medals for their allocated country. If you know of any past Olympians who might be willing to be part of the opening ceremony, please notify me via the front office. Further details will be sent out to families in the coming weeks.

This year we will be celebrating Grandparent’s Day on Wednesday 7 August. This is a special day where we honour and appreciate the important role that grandparents play in our lives. All parents/carers and grandparents are warmly invited to join us in celebrating and giving thanks for the beautiful gift of grandparents. The morning will commence with mass at 9:00am and will be followed by morning tea and open classrooms. Please save the date and share it with the grandparents within your families.

Tonight’s P & F meeting will be held at 7:00pm via Zoom. The P & F Executive warmly invite all parents to attend via accessing the following link: https://dowcatholic.zoom.us/j/67025781899

Wishing you a wonderful week.

Kind regards,

Mr Matt Downes

(Acting Principal)
