PRINCIPALS MESSAGE
It is with mixed emotions that I inform our Nazareth school community that Mrs Jodi Marsh will be leaving Nazareth at the end of 2020. After 18 years and countless contributions to learning and teaching, and to the Catholic life of our school, Jodi has accepted the role of Religious Education Coordinator (REC) at St Paul’s Catholic Primary School, Albion Park. Although Jodi will be greatly missed by our Nazareth community, I am confident that she will be able to make significant contributions to St Paul’s Albion Park in her senior leadership position of REC.
This week, the staff and students have commemorated Remembrance Day and celebrated NAIDOC Week.
As always, Remembrance Day was observed at Nazareth by pausing and participating in a prayerful liturgy at 11am on 11th November. This day, a day to remember and honour all Australians who have served, marks the time and date of the signing of the peace agreement between Germany and the Allies that ended the Great War of 1914-1918. It is important that our children continue to learn about, and to acknowledge this day.
Lest We Forget.
The theme for NAIDOC Week 2020 is “Always Was, Always Will Be”. It celebrates that our nations story began long before European contact and that the first footprints on this continent were those belonging to First Nations peoples. Our students have participated in a variety of NAIDOC activities and Mark Mongta, our Aboriginal Education Assistant, performed a smoking ceremony for our staff and students.
Thank you for your continued understanding as we navigate our way through current restrictions.
Take care,
Lisa Tyson
Acting Principal
