Please note: We have made some changes to the format for the 2021 carnival. This year we will be running the athletics carnival in 2 categories for each age group. We will be running competitor and non-competitor events simultaneously throughout the day to ensure that all NSW athletics rules are followed.
Teachers have been teaching fundamental athletics skills during the students’ sport lessons. These skills have been taught according to the NSW Athletics Guidelines. Mrs Kelly Smith (Specialist PE teacher) has been running a ‘mini event’ during Physical Education lessons to select the top place getters for each age group and gender ( 8-10 students per category).
Over the course of the carnival, students who have been identified and selected from school based sport lessons and PE lessons will compete with their age group within each given event. All other students from the age groups will participate in the event for fun and experience. Please note that students that are participating for fun and experience will not have their measurements recorded, but will earn points for their sporting house.
At the conclusion of the carnival, all data from the day will be processed and students will be selected for the next level of competition. Selection for the school representative team will be aligned with Diocesan Sporting guidelines

SOCCER GALA DAY
The Soccer Gala Day will be held on Friday June 23. A significant number of students from Year 3 to Year 6 have already expressed interest in attending. The Soccer Gala Day incorporates many schools, a large number of students and will be conducted across three separate venues. Due to the scope of the day schools are limited to how many teams are submitted and how many students are in each team. Due to this the following is in place:
- The event is based on participation and is not a competition
- Nazareth students who have not yet had an opportunity to participate in a Gala Day this year will be given priority over students who have already had an opportunity to be involved in a Gala Day. This will be explained to the children
- Families of Years 5 and 6 students who are participating will need to organise their own transport to the venues. Girls to Darcy Wentworth Oval Warrawong and boys to Terry Reserve Albion Park
- All Year 3 and 4 students participating will travel by bus to Lyriebird Park Nowra
- Standard parent consent permission will apply and will be forwarded via Compass
- All students are reminded that it is a privilege to represent the school and participating students will require Principal’s approval to attend.
If you require any clarification in relation to the above details contact Mr Dempsey via the school office.
NETBALL GALA DAYThe netball gala day was held on Tuesday 15th June. Nazareth was represented by 4 teams, one junior girls team and three senior girls teams. Students had a great day as they played against students from a range of schools across the diocese. Congratulations to all of the girls who played. They displayed both teamwork and great sportsmanship.
