PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Yesterday notification was communicated to all parents/carers in relation to the further easing of COVID restrictions for schools. A significant change for families who do not rely on bus transport is that the afternoon dismissal procedure will revert to the normal dismissal procedure from next Monday Feb 28. That is, parents/carers will be required to park in the church car park or in the vicinity of the school and walk on to the school site to collect their child/ren. The gate adjacent to the Hall, the smaller gate off Glider Ave and the main gate at the front of the school will all be opened from 2:30pm. Parents/carers will be able to enter the school site then wait in a designated area near to where the children will be dismissed. Staff will be available to direct you to the various dismissal areas within the school.
Morning arrival procedures will remain much the same although parents are able to walk with their child/ren on to the school site. Please note that the area immediately at the top of the stairs adjacent to the Hall in the church park will become a Kiss and Drop zone. Alternatively parents/carers are able to park and walk with their child/ren to the top of the stairs/ramp or on to the playground area. The area adjacent to the smaller Gilder Ave gate near the canteen will continue to function as a ‘Kiss and Drop’ zone. In this particular area, parents/carers need to be aware that the signage indicates ‘No Parking’ which means a parent/carer can assist a child out of the car but cannot leave the car. This can be confusing however when everyone uses this area as intended it works well.
I wish to acknowledge and extend my sincere thanks to the Nazareth staff who enabled the school’s arrival and dismissal procedures to occur with precision and a focus on safety. All of which occurred on a daily basis even in the most challenging weather conditions.
I also extend my thanks to all parents/carers for your continued cooperation and support whilst we all still navigate matters associated with COVID-19. Even though there are still many challenges ahead I can assure everyone that the school remains focused on the learning progress of each child.
Take care
Peter Dempsey
