PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Semester 1 student reports have now been made available (Years 1 – 6) and I am pleased to note that all students have displayed improvement with their learning. I hope that parents have found the reports and the subsequent parent/teacher interviews to be informative. I have noticed that the vast majority of parents have engaged with their child’s teacher and I thank the teaching staff for their availability of time to meet with parents over the last week.

Despite illness continuing to impact on students and staff, I believe that Term 2 has been very successful in relation to students remaining engaged and focused on their learning. A number of school events, including the Mother’s Day stall, Grandparents Day, the school Disco and the Year 5 and Year 6 excursions have enabled the school to further emerge from the constraints of COVID restrictions to re-established a greater sense of community across the whole school. This will continue next Term particularly with our school Athletics Carnival now scheduled to occur Thursday July 21 (Week 1) and the launching of the school’s involvement with Jump Rope for Heart.

Refer to additional information about the Athletics Carnival in this newsletter.

Information in relation to Jump Rope for Heart (the promotion of skipping to raise awareness and funds for heart health education) will be communicated to all families at the commencement of next Term.

Next Term, for the first 3 weeks Mrs Lisa Tyson will fulfil the role of Acting Principal at St Thomas More Catholic Primary School Ruse and Mrs Lisa Mammone will fulfil the role of Acting Assistant Principal at Nazareth. I congratulate Mrs Tyson on her appointment and I thank Mrs Mammone for her preparedness to fulfil the role of Acting Assistant Principal.

Following a time of preparation a large number of children from across the parish will receive the sacrament of Confirmation this Sunday. Bishop Brian Mascord will confer the sacrament upon 80 children at an 11:00am Mass.

I wish to extend my thanks to the Nazareth staff for their ongoing extra-ordinary work and I hope that staff and all families enjoy the break over the next 2 weeks.

I look forward to welcoming everyone back to Nazareth Monday
July 18.

Enjoy the weeks ahead.
