I wish to welcome everyone back to Nazareth to commence Term 2. I hope that all families enjoyed the celebration of Easter and were able to spend time together.
Last Thursday’s Shellharbour City ANZAC Day ceremony was very well attended by a number of Nazareth families. Special mention and thanks to Lachlan P and Dakota F who accompanied me in representing the school with the laying of a wreath during the ceremony. Appreciation is also extended to our Year 5 students who led our school based ANZAC Day ceremony and to our special guests who attended, Mr Kim Kearney and Mrs Katherine Schonrock. Our thanks are also extended to a number of Corpus Christi students who attended to form a catafalque party during the ceremony.
The school community wishes good luck to all the children competing in next week's Diocesan Cross Country.

ANZAC DAY
We gathered as a school community on Monday 29th April to commemorate ANZAC Day. We were fortunate to have a group of Corpus Christi students present to form a Catafalque Party, which made the ceremony all the more meaningful. Thank you also to veterans Mr Kim Kearney and Mrs Katheryn Shonrock for being present. Mr Kearney on behalf of the RSL presented a gift of World War diaries and letters to the school.
EASTER CELEBRATION
The most joyful season of the Church’s year begins on Easter Sunday. We believe that Jesus is with us as the Risen Lord. The message of Easter is new life. On Wednesday 1st May at 1:50pm we celebrated the season of Easter in the Hall with prayer. Thank you to Year Three for leading this celebration.

ALL SAINTS PARISH ROSARY GROUP
The Rosary is prayed every Monday from 9:30am in our Parish Liturgy Room at All Saints Church. Followed by Readings and Reflection and a cuppa. As Catholics we pray the Rosary as a means to spiritual growth. Throughout Church history many saints and popes have highly recommended that we pray the Rosary. St Pope John Paul II declared the Rosary as his favourite prayer, a “prayer for peace and for the family”. Come join us in asking Mary to intercede for us with her Son, Jesus.
During our Religion lessons, 3H have been preparing for our Easter Celebration. Each student has been practicing their part of the liturgy. Some students are reading part of the prayer, some are helping to assist with the setting of the prayer space and others are taking part in a re-enactment of the Gospel. This experience is helping year 3 to deepen their knowledge of the Easter season and to understand that Jesus is risen.
Below is 3H practicing their songs, “Walking in the Light of God,” and “Hallelujah.”

KN started Term 2 with big smiles and enthusiasm. We are all excited to be back at school to play with our friends, learn new things and be the best we can be.
We have been practising our letters sounds and sight words and we remember what to do when we read our books in guided reading time. We know that to be successful readers we need to point to all our words, look at our pictures and try again if we get confused. We are starting to take readers home to show our families what we can do!
SOCIAL MEDIA
As noted in the last newsletter a new Social Media Policy is now in place. Refer to link https://www.dow.catholic.edu.au/about-us/policies/social-media-policy/. Additional information will be forwarded to all families relating to the school’s use of social media. Special thanks is extended to Cindy C (parent representative) who provided an excellent overview at the last P&F Meeting of the newly released policy.
