Dear Parents and Carers,
As we come to the end of the 2023 school year, I extend my warmest wishes to all of
you. Christmas is a time of joy, love, and togetherness as we celebrate the birth of
Jesus, our Saviour, and I hope that it brings immense happiness and peace to your
lives.
It is also a time to reflect on the importance of gratitude and generosity. I extend my
thanks to each family who contributed in some way to our St Vincent DePaul
Christmas giving appeal. We were able to present a substantial contribution of funds
and Christmas goods to the Shellharbour SVDP chapter at the Gold Awards on
Wednesday. Generosity of this kind, as well as acts of kindness, or simply being
there for someone in need, can make a significant impact in the lives of others.
I express my heartfelt appreciation to our dedicated staff who have worked tirelessly
to provide extraordinary care and excellent education for our students. Their
commitment and passion have truly made a difference in the lives of our students,
and for that, the Nazareth school community is immensely grateful.
The Nazareth students have discovered their strengths and achieved growth in faith,
learning and wellbeing throughout the school year. I am confident that they will
continue to build on their successes of 2023 and experience continued growth and
success in 2024.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the parents and carers for your
continuous support and trust in Nazareth. Your involvement and partnership have
been instrumental in creating a nurturing and empowering learning environment for
our students.
At the time of writing this message to the Nazareth community, we are still unsure of
who will replace Peter Dempsey as the principal of Nazareth. As soon as the
recruitment process is decided and communicated, we will let you know the Principal
and Assistant Principal positions. I would like to thank the school community for your
support of me in my role of Acting Principal throughout the year. A lot has been
achieved and I feel that the community has come together in a spirit of improved
faith, learning and wellbeing. The school is set for another successful year in 2024.
Please find below the list of staff for 2024.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas filled with love, laughter, and joy. May the New
Year bring you abundant opportunities, success, and happiness.
In Faith and Learning,
Lisa Tyson

Please keep checking the website during the school holiday break for other important dates.
Wednesday Faith & Learning visits
A very big thank you to all of the parents who came to mass with their children this year and then visited their classrooms. The children love to see their families in church with them and then to show off their classrooms and school work.
St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal
A massive thank you to the families who supported our St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. The gifts were presented at the Gold Awards assembly on Wednesday and the St Vincent de Paul representatives were overwhelmed with the kindness of families here at Nazareth. What a difference you have made to the struggling members of our community.
All mass times can be found in the All Saints Parish Bulletin and all other important information. A link can be found on the Parish Website: https://www.dow.org.au/parish/all-saints-catholic-parish-shellharbour-city
In Religion, we have been learning about the concepts of journey. We learn about the journeys of people of the Old Testament and God’s faithful relationship with them.
During Advent we focus on our preparation for the journey towards Christmas and the second coming of Christ in glory. We focus on ways we can respond to God-with-us on our journeys of faith and life.
Below are some of our students’ reflections on their journey and their preparations heading towards the Christmas period.
Georgia: A journey that is coming up for us Catholics is Christmas. Christmas is a time of rejoice and forgiveness. It is also a time we repent our sins, show respect and prayer.
Lucy: A journey can be a pathway that God or Jesus leads you too. A journey can also be a moment you are preparing for (for example, Easter, Christmas. New Years, birthdays etc).
Brody: To me, a journey is something a person either has, or will go through. For example, a school year, a sporting season and even when you are training or practising for something. Some journeys may be easy, but some can be very difficult.
Yazmin: A journey to me means a time when you go through hard things, go somewhere, or try to achieve your goals. But you never give up and get something in the end!
Ebony: A journey to me is like a trip or something that is exciting coming up. Soon it is Jesus’ birthday, and it is a time we will celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
As the year comes to an end, 2E have been revising some topics explored this year through Christmas themed craft and booster book activities.
Children have enjoyed following step-by-step instructions to build a ‘bead man’ and piece together a foam Santa. Our Christmas themed booster books have revised number concepts as well as reading, writing and spelling in engaging tasks such as code breakers, Christmas card editing and procedures for how to decorate a Christmas tree.
We wish to extend thanks to our year 2 families and wishing you all a blessed and holy Christmas, happy new year and restful break.
Thank you for a wonderful year.

PAYMENT OF SCHOOL FEES BY INSTALMENT – NEW FAMILIES TO OUR SCHOOL
School Fees are invoiced as an annual account, due for payment in full 30 days after invoicing. However, many families select to pay their school fees by regular instalments and as a new family to our school, we would like to offer you this option. If you wish to take up this offer, please complete a Request to Pay by Instalment Form which is available on the school’s website or from the school’s administration office. On completion of the request, either email it to instalments@dow.catholic.edu.au or submit at the school office. Following receipt of the request, instalments will be generated on your school fee account during the process of invoicing 2024 school fees. Your school fee statements are emailed to you and they will provide a list of scheduled payments and their due date.
IMPORTANT: Please note that if you currently have a child or children at another school in the Diocese and you are paying by instalments at this location, you will not need to complete another Request to Pay by Instalment. The instalment request carries over from school to school with the same frequency of payment eg Weekly, fortnightly, etc.
