As noted on the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) website;
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) are essential areas of study that foster students’ skills and prepare them to participate in a rapidly changing world and contribute to Australia’s future development and prosperity. With this in mind and aligned with the school’s Vision and Mission, next Tuesday Nazareth school will be conducting a STEM day for all students. The day will aim at promoting STEM by providing a range of engaging and fun learning experiences which will be aligned closely with the Science and Technology syllabus. The activities will be class based and will be facilitated by Nazareth staff during normal learning time. Students will be involved in designing and making a roller coaster, a catapult and a raft. M-Bot robots will also be used along with Lego. I wish to thank the staff who have been involved in planning for the day.
One of the highlights of the Nazareth calendar each year is Grandparents Day. This year Grandparents Day will be Friday August 16. All grandparents, great grandparents and those that fulfil the role of grandparent are invited to attend the school from 8:45 for a Prayer Celebration to commence in the school hall at 9:00am. Morning tea will be available for guests followed by an opportunity to visit classrooms and the playground. After Recess (11:00am) normal timetabled learning and teaching will continue for children in their classrooms.
Congratulations to all students for their efforts at the recent school Athletics Carnival and in particular congratulations to the students acknowledged as Age Champions.
Enjoy the week ahead

EARN AND LEARN
Thank you to all who have returned stickers for Woolworths Earn & Learn. We want to collect as many stickers as we can, so that we can order as much equipment as we can. Please drop your stickers in at the front office before the end of Term so that they can be counted.
MINI VINNIES
In Week 10, the Mini Vinnies team is organising the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal on Thursday 4th July. Children are asked to dress in Beanies, socks and scarfs and bring along a gold coin donation to support the Winter Appeal. Look out for the posters around the school promoting the event.
Just a reminder that all students in Year 3 will receive the Celebration of Penance - 2nd Rite of Reconciliation next week on Tuesday, 2 July and Wednesday, 3 July at 7pm in All Saints Parish.
STAFFING
Mr Chris Carrasco has commenced a new teaching role at Nazareth supporting the learning of students in Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6. Mr Carrasco will be working at Nazareth until early November. Welcome Mr Carrasco.
NETBALL GALA DAY
Due to the weather the Netball Gala Day was not able to go ahead this week. The school will not be able to participate on the day of the rescheduled date due to a clash with the school STEM Day.
NAIDOC WEEK
NAIDOC Week 2019 will run nationally from 7-14 July 2019 and is an occasion for all Australians to come together to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people - the oldest continuing cultures on the planet. Nazareth will celebrate during rotational activities on Friday the 5/7/19, the Friday before Naidoc week.
On Friday 16th August, we will celebrate Grandparents Day at Nazareth.
The day will begin at 9:00am in the school hall with a prayer celebration. Following this a light morning tea will be offered to Grandparents in the hall. Grandparents are then invited to visit the children’s classroom to view the work they complete at school, before joining the children in the playground for morning tea at 10:25am. Grandparents are then asked to leave at 11:00am, so that the children can continue their school day.

WASTE FREE TOKENS
In week 8, Nazareth created some waste free tokens to be handed out during recess and lunch. These tokens allow the students to get a raffle ticket at the end of their play time. 4 tickets a pulled out each Friday at assembly time and those students come and get an environmentally friendly prize. The students have responded so well to this initiative and Nazareth is looking rubbish free.

In Year 5 we have been learning about the Fruits of the Holy Spirit. The nine Fruits of the Holy Spirit at love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Throughout the past weeks we have learnt that the Fruits of the Spirit are visible signs of the presence of the spirit. We can describe how the Fruits of the Holy Spirit are shown to us and by us in our lives and how they were shown in the life of Jesus.
Last week’s Athletics carnival was a great success! All of the students and staff had a wonderful time and the sportsmanship of our Nazareth children was evident throughout the day. Well done to all of our students and the age champions.
