World Teachers’ Day is a day to celebrate and be proud of our teachers. Australia will celebrate and thank the teaching profession on World Teachers’ Day - Friday 30 October. Teachers (with support from parents and carers) have ensured education continues across the country this year, despite major challenges. It has reinforced the significant role teachers play in the lives of children and students, their families and communities. Friday 30 October provides an opportunity for all of us to thank teachers and celebrate the bright future of teaching.
Thank you to all of our parents and caregivers for continuing to follow the procedures communicated for afternoon dismissal procedures. These procedures are for the safety of our school community. Please remember to be mindful of the traffic waiting to enter the carpark from College Ave. If the line is too long, or is causing traffic issues, please park elsewhere and walk into the carpark to collect your child, or leave the area and come back a few minutes later when the line may have settled. It is important that we don’t disrupt our neighbouring streets, and that we abide by the road rules.
As we experience unusually cool Spring weather, we ask that students continue to wear the full summer uniform rather than a combination of summer and winter.
Finally, I wish to convey to you an update on Mr Dempsey’s recuperation following his surfing accident. He was pleased to discover that surgery will not be required, however he does need to engage in some intense physiotherapy over the coming weeks. We all wish him a thorough recovery so that he can recommence engaging in some of the physical activity that he so enjoys.

Acting Principal

In Religion this term, 4R are learning about prayer. We are learning that prayer is a way to communicate with God and build our relationship with Him. 4R are going to be learning about a variety of different prayer styles. We all recorded on a post it note a response to the question 'What is prayer?' Here are some of our answers.
KN have been learning how to think mathematically during our Mathematics lessons. We have been doing “Challenging Maths” in our lessons. We have learnt that sometimes things in Maths can be hard, but if we keep trying our brain will grow and grow! Mistakes help us learn so it’s ok if we don’t get our thinking right the first time.
This week we had to look at some shapes and think of a question to match. This wasn’t easy, but we all had a really good try.

We have been learning about how family tree in History. We know that families are all different. We have enjoyed learning how families are connected.

YEAR 6 EXCURSION
As you are aware, our Year 6 Canberra excursion was cancelled due to COVID restrictions and this has left a heavy dent in the year.
The Year 6 teachers have been in consultation with a few venues around the area to see what availability they had for COVID safe activities. We are very excited to announce that we have secured a reservation for a day trip to Cataract Scout Park. The teachers are currently in the process of finalising details and will send through a COMPASS permission with further details as they come to hand.
Parents have had a notification sent out on COMPASS and the excursion note will come out on COMPASS in the coming days.
