This Sunday marks the commencement of the season of Advent. The word Advent comes from the latin, adventus meaning ‘coming or arrival’. It can also mean, ‘new birth or new beginning’, hence its use for the time given to us to prepare for the birth of Christ at Christmas. During the 4 Sundays of Advent as we move closer to the celebration of Christmas I encourage everyone to focus on the real meaning and purpose of Christmas, not to get lost in the commercialism of this special time. Take time to stop remember and pray. In the context of the turbulent events of this year, arguably there has never been a more suitable time to reflect on what is important and to be thankful for the goodness in our lives.
Acknowledgement and congratulations to all of the children from our parish who this week made their first Holy Communion and to those who have been Confirmed. These two Sacraments mark significant milestones and are timely reminders to all of us of the importance of our faith and our involvement in the sacramental life of the church.
I wish to extend my sincere thanks to Lisa Tyson for her outstanding work whilst fulfilling the role of Acting Principal during my recent Leave. I am pleased to be back at work and thank everyone for your kind messages. I am now on track to make a full recovery from a recent injury.
Enjoy the week ahead

SUMMER FUN DAY
On Friday 4th December, Year 6 will once again host their annual Summer Fun Day. This day raises funds for the Year 6 Graduation gift back to the school community. For a gold coin donation, students can dress up in “summer” style mufti for the day. Eg shorts, t-shirts, Hawaian shirts, lays, sunnies, hats. Please note students should wear school-appropriate footwear and sun protective clothing. Students across the school will spend part of the day participating in fun activities organised by the year 6 students themselves. It is always a great event, which gets all students and staff feeling summery and fun for the end of year festivities.
