The Nazareth whole school Assessment Plan provides guidance for the implementation of an extensive range of assessment tasks for all students. A wide range of learning data is gathered and analysed on a regular basis. The learning progress of each student is monitored closely and when required, support and interventions are implemented so that students can maintain growth and for many students exceed expected learning growth. Regular staff meetings including Case Collaboration and Collaborative Inquiry meetings focus on ongoing and continuous improvement in relation to students and their learning and teachers and their teaching. In accord with NESA and Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong policy and procedures, parents/ carers are provided with formal Student Reports throughout the year, the first of which will be accessible for parents/carers of students in Year 1 to Year 6 from next Friday June 18. To support the process of reporting, parent/teacher interviews will be available from Monday June 21. I encourage all parents/ carers to book an interview time (refer to details in this Newsletter). Interviews will provide time so you can clarify information and also engage in discussion with your child’s teacher so that you can gain further insight into your child’s learning growth. Student Reports Year 1 to Year 6 will be accessed online via Compass. Please note that Kindergarten Reports are not issued at this time (but parent/ teacher interviews are available).
Enjoy the week ahead.

SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION
We have now completed the third Confirmation workshop for the students making their sacrament of Reconciliation in Term 3. If families have not paid their $20.00 or any other forms, such as sponsor forms, are still outstanding, please urgently contact the Parish Office to settle all outstanding issues. This must be finalised this week. Thank you to all of the families for the continued spiritual support of your child.
2L have been very busy during Religion lessons. We have been learning about our Church seasons, what colours represent each season and the symbols that correspond with those seasons.
This week, 2L have been on a "Prayer Space" walk to observe what religious objects we can place in the areas to remind us of the seasons and what they represent. We even peeked in the staff room to see the teachers prayer space! We were all very excited!

ROAD SAFETY
When arriving at school of a morning and in particular when leaving the school site of an afternoon please ensure you do so safely. The supervised Pedestrian Crossing on Glider Ave is to be used when crossing Glider Ave. All parents/carers are reminded that the Bus Bay at the entrance of the school should not be used as an area to cross Glider Ave. The school seeks the cooperation of all parents/carers to set a good example to their child/ren by always using the Pedestrian Crossing to cross Glider Ave.
In Science 3L are focussing on how solids and liquids change state. We have identified what the three states of matter are (solds, liquids and gases) and have made predictions on how solids can become liquids and how liquids can become solids.
This week we conducted an experiment on 5 different liquids - milk, oil, honey, vinegar and water to see what would happen after we removed the heat.The first part of the experiment was to predict what would happen to each liquid after it had been in the freezer for 2 hours and again after 4 hours. We then observed the liquids after these times, wrote our observations and then compared our predictions to our observations.
Some interesting observations were:
The vinegar froze within the first 2 hours;
The milk had ice in it but was not frozen on the 2 hour check but it was on the 4 hour check;
The honey turned into a gel but it did not freeze, it became thicker as time went on;
The oil stayed exactly the same.
SCHOOL ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
As previously communicated our School Athletics carnival has been postponed due to forecasted adverse weather. The new date for the carnival is Wednesday July 14. Updated information in relation to the carnival will be forwarded to families prior to the end of this Term.
Nazareth has recently installed a Long Jump Pit in the playground area. The school wishes to thank the Nazareth P&F who will cover the installation costs.
CROSS COUNTRY
Congratulations to Sonny Cocksedge and Reid Coelho for their magnificent efforts in the running of the 2km Cross Country track at Eastern Creek Sydney for the Wollongong Diocesan Team. Sonny finished 30th out of 60 runners and Reid finished 3rd out of 60 runners. Reid will now progress to the next level of representation and run for the NSW MacKillop Team. Well done to both boys.As part of PB4L, we have introduced house tokens. The children receive tokens in their house colour for positive behaviour on the playground, such as making friendly choices, being respectful and solving problems. The first house to fill their container will receive a house reward of wearing a touch of their house colour to school for the day. So far, it is very close!
