All Nazareth staff are looking forward to welcoming back students to face to face teaching. Kindergarten and Year 1 students are returning next Monday October 18 and all other Grades (Years 2,3,4,5,6) will be returning the following Monday, October 25.
The school has planned extensively to ensure adherence to Public Health Orders. Of a morning the main points of entry to the school remain the same (small gate and front gate on Glider Ave, Church carpark, school buses). Afternoon dismissal procedures will revert back to the previous procedure utilising the Church carpark. Surname A-J pick up from 2:40pm, surname K-Z pick up from 2:50pm. The family name is to be displayed from inside the vehicle. All parents/carers are asked not to arrive early for your time slot and to be mindful of potential traffic congestion in the local area. Parents/carers are able to walk into the carpark to collect their child/ren, however masks must be worn and all must adhere to social distancing.
Split Recess and Lunch times will be in place so that students have sufficient space to play with their Grade. Student movement during the school day will be minimized, all hygiene procedures will be a priority and continuous cleaning of high touch surfaces will continue to be in place.
All staff will be wearing masks. Mask wearing for primary age children is not mandatory but is strongly recommended. All staff are fully vaccinated. Vaccination is not mandatory for primary school students.
Ventilation will be a priority and will be maximised each day in classrooms. Outdoor learning opportunities will be utilised each day.
If a person who has been on the school site tests positive to COVID -19, parents/carers will be notified and asked to pick students up from designated points. Staff will safely supervise all students and the school will follow NSW Health advice and CEDoW procedures.
Teachers will be focused on supporting each student’s wellbeing upon their return to school. Formal face to face teaching/learning will initially be centred around English, Mathematics and Religious Education. Other Key Learning Areas will be reintroduced during the time ahead.
Thank you to those parents/carers that were able to zoom into this week’s parent information meeting, I hope that this was helpful. I acknowledge the uncertainty across our community at this time as children prepare to return to school. Please be assured that the staff are here to support your child/ren. Helpful information is within this newsletter from our school counsellor and from the school’s Positive Behaviours 4 Learning Team to further support families.
If you require clarification or additional information please contact the school office.
I look forward to seeing all students returning to school over the time ahead.
Take care,
Peter Dempsey
Principal

RIPPLES PODCAST
In this different time that we are experiencing, sometimes we need to shut down and clear our minds of the things going on around us. The podcast Ripples: Inspired Voices, Treasured Stillness was developed in response to COVID-19 and from a desire to find new ways to ‘be’ in this environment.
This podcast was developed for staff and parents on-going spiritual formation. It seeks to offer a space where people can draw on the wisdom of a series of guest speakers and can experience some treasured stillness through meditation. Practices like these create a ripple effect. They have the potential to impact the way we respond to family, friends, colleagues, to creation and to our loving God. Come and enjoy some Inspired Voices and Treasured Stillness. The podcast can be listened to through ‘Apple Podcast’ or ‘’Podbean. To access please use this link: https://ripples.dow.catholic.edu.au/
Father Joe has devised a way to keep our parish community connected allowing access to masses and services from your home. Father Joe delivers a morning service, live streamed at 7.30am. This can be found on the All Saints Catholic Parish Shellharbour City Facebook page. Also each week All Saints Parish continues to present a Bulletin with the weekend Readings and other important information. A link can be found on the Parish Website: http://www.allsaintscatholic.org.au/allsaintscatholic/Welcome.html. Please remember Father Joe in your prayers as he works his way through this time of lockdown.
In Year 6 we have been learning about some of the Sacraments of the Catholic Church. We are particularly excited about receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. After preparing during term 2, we made posters about our chosen saints and demonstrated how we can relate to their values. Here are some of our posters.
We are looking forward to receiving this sacrament (finally) this term.

In Kindergarten, we have been learning about our families. We have spent some time learning about who is in our family and how we can make our very own family tree. We have explored how our families are similar and different to other families. Here are some examples of KN’s families:
The PB4L Team would like to welcome you back to Term 4! We are all looking forward to welcoming Kindergarten and Year 1 students back to Nazareth on Monday next week (18th October) and Years 2 - 6 the following week (25th October).
-
Check that your child’s summer school uniform still fits and is ready for them to wear!
-
Make sure that your child has packed their bag and that they have everything they need for school (pencils, pens, glue, scissors etc).
-
Make sure that your child has a healthy breakfast and that they have a healthy lunch and their water bottle so that they feel energised throughout the day. Don’t forget crunch and sip too!
-
Make sure that your child gets plenty of sleep so that they are ready to learn and enjoy their day at school.
-
Your child might feel a bit nervous about coming back to school and that is understandable after having such a long period of remote learning. Talk to your child about this and try to reassure them by reminding them that the staff here at Nazareth are always ready to help them and that their friends will be there to support them as well. We are so excited to see all of the children!
-
We are looking forward to welcoming the children back to school and we offer our support to families and students during this time of transition. Please don’t hesitate to make contact with your child’s teacher if you have any concerns about your child returning to school. We are here to help!
