At this point last year, little did anyone know what 2021 had installed for all of us. Even though there is still a high degree of uncertainty about what lay ahead, what we do know is that we have all grown in resilience and we are now more able to adapt to changing circumstances associated with the management of the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular the Nazareth students have grown in independence and have demonstrated great ability to respond to change. The extended time of remote learning for all students was challenging for everyone, but upon return to face to face teaching, all students have been engaged with their learning and have shown improvements. As the 2021 school year draws to a close I wish to acknowledge the achievements of all students. Student achievement in the form of amended student reports will be able to be accessed tomorrow by parents/carers. Information will be communicated to you via Compass when the Reports are available.
Last night Year 6 students and their families participated in the annual Year 6 Graduation Mass. Mass was followed by a Graduation dinner and ceremony for the students and was live-streamed for parents to watch from home. Each Year 6 student was congratulated and acknowledged and leaving families were also acknowledged, some of which have had a very long association with the school. In keeping with school tradition Year 6 awards were presented for outstanding achievements in a wide range of areas. It was a magnificent evening and I extend thanks to Fr Joe and the staff who were involved in the organisation of the both the Mass and ceremony.
On behalf of the Nazareth staff I wish all families a very happy and holy Christmas and a healthy new year. I look forward to welcoming students back to school next year. Take care during the vacation period and I hope you are able to spend quality time with your family.
Merry Christmas

CONFIRMATION
Year 6 students celebrated the sacrament of Confirmation last weekend. Both services over the weekend were conducted by Father Joe and each student was blessed with the Holy Spirit. In receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation, the student’s relationship with God is made stronger. The Gifts of the Holy Spirit are strengthened: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. Students become a better witness to Christ in the world. A huge thank you to the teachers, parents and sponsors for supporting and helping to prepare the students on their sacramental journey.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
First Holy Communion will be held next weekend; Saturday, 18 December and Sunday, 19 December, both services will be at 11 am. A seating plan will be emailed out to all parents next week. Students have already begun their class-based preparation and thank you to the teachers for preparing them so well. We understand that it is a very busy time of year, so thank you to the parents for supporting their child to be able to participate in this very important sacrament.
RECONCILIATION
If your child is in Year 2 and you wish for them to participate in the sacrament of Reconciliation next year, please attend any of this weekend’s masses at All Saints Parish Church to begin the enrolment process. You will need to complete an enrolment form and hand in your money. The sacrament of Reconciliation is a prerequisite for First Holy Communion.
Thank you to all of the parents who are supporting their children in preparing for these sacraments. These special events do not happen without the support and guidance from you, the parents.
ADVENT
We have entered Week 2 of the season of Advent. During the second week of Advent, we focus on John the Baptist’s challenge: Prepare the way of the Lord! Advent is a time of reflection and anticipation in the weeks leading up to Christmas. The word "Advent" comes from the Latin word adventus meaning "coming". The advent season symbolises both the waiting for the birth of Christ and his return. A popular tradition during Advent is the advent wreath made of evergreen to symbolise everlasting life and a circle to remind us of both God's unending love and the eternal life offered through Jesus Christ.
The Advent wreath has four candles - one is lit each Sunday of the four weeks of Advent. Each candle represents a new focus and time of reflection. The second week of Advent is the candle of peace. This candle reminds us that the angels declared "peace on earth" at the birth of Jesus. Jesus offers us inner peace and peace with others. We can know and experience peace today only through the life of Jesus Christ.
Each week All Saints Parish continues to present a Bulletin with the weekend Readings and other important information. A link can be found on the Parish Website: http://www.allsaintscatholic.org.au/allsaintscatholic/Welcome.html.

PAYMENT OF SCHOOL FEES BY INSTALMENT
NEW FAMILIES TO OUR SCHOOL
School Fees are invoiced as an annual account, due for payment in full 30 days after invoicing. However, many families elect to pay their school fees by regular instalments and as a new family to our school, we would like to offer you this option. If wish to take up this offer, please complete a Request to Pay by Instalment Form which is available on the school’s website or from the school’s administration office. On completion of the request, either email it to instalments@dow.catholic.edu.au or submit at the school office. Following receipt of the request, instalments will be generated on your school fee account during the process of invoicing 2022 school fees. Your school fee statements are emailed to you and they will provide a list of scheduled payments and their due date.
IMPORTANT: Please note that if you currently have a child or children at another school in the Diocese and you are paying by instalments at this location, you will not need to complete another Request to Pay by Instalment. The instalment request carries over from school to school with the same frequency of payment eg Weekly, fortnightly, etc.
EXISTING FAMILIES IN OUR SCHOOL WITH INSTALMENTS
If you are currently paying by instalments there is no need to complete another Request to Pay by Instalment as your request carries over from year to year unless you wish to amend the frequency of your payments eg Weeky to Fortnightly, etc.
EXISTING FAMILIES IN OUR SCHOOL WITHOUT INSTALMENTS
If you would like to pay school fees by instalments in 2022 and have previously not taken up this option for payment, please complete a Request to Pay by Instalment Form which is available on the school’s website or from the school’s administration office. On completion of the request either email it to instalments@dow.catholic.edu.au or submit at the school office. Following receipt of the request, instalments will be generated on your school fee account during the process of invoicing 2022 school fees. Your school fee statement will provide a list of scheduled payments and their due date depending on the frequency you have chosen eg Fortnightly, Monthly, etc.
