Lord, teach me to be generous,
Teach me to serve you as you deserve;
To give and not to count the cost,
To fight and not to heed the wounds,
To toil and not to seek for rest,
To labor and not to ask for reward,
Save that of knowing that I do your will.
Amen
Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome to Term 2. I hope that all families were able to enjoy a peaceful and holy time during Easter and were able to enjoy time with family and friends during the school holidays.
Last Wednesday our students returned refreshed and ready for all that Term 2 will bring. Please take note of the dates listed in this newsletter as there is a lot happening this term.
This coming Sunday is the Fifth Sunday of Easter - Year A and the readings tell us that we are called to follow Jesus and serve him. The first reading tells how and why the first deacons were chosen. The psalm reminds us that God “loves justice and right”. In the second reading Peter calls the people to be “a holy priesthood”. And in the gospel (John 14:1–12) Jesus tells his disciples, “I am the way and the truth and the life.”
In light of this Gospel, we can encourage our children to think about what it means to have faith in Jesus. We can ask them questions like:
- What does it mean to have a personal relationship with Jesus?
- How can we show our faith in Jesus in our everyday lives?
- Why do you think Jesus said He was the Way and the Truth and the Life?
- What are some ways we can help others find their way to Jesus?
- What are some ways we can deepen our faith in Jesus?
- Can you think of a time when you felt Jesus guiding you? What happened?
- How can we pray to Jesus and ask for guidance in our lives?
In Faith and Learning,
Lisa Tyson
This week in 4R, students have begun learning about disciples at the first Easter and exploring the presence of the risen Jesus. Students were asked to reflect and create I Wonder statements based on the scripture passage of Matthew 28: 1-10.
Eli - I wonder why Jesus told the women instead of just going to tell the disciples.
Harper - I wonder why God chose Jesus to be his son and why Jesus rose.
Lucy - I wonder how the angel appeared.Hayden - I wonder why there was an earthquake when the angel appeared.
Amalia - I wonder how both Marys felt when they walked into the tomb and found God not there.
Georgia - I wonder how his family and friends felt.

Our attendance data shows that we have a large number of students regularly arriving at school after the start of the school day (8:25am). This late arrival can impact their ability to have a successful start to their day and to be ready to engage in learning. I ask that all students be at school by 8:25am unless there are special circumstances that have been communicated with the class teacher or myself.
Every minute of every day counts. The statistics in the following table is certainly food for thought.
Due to the uncertain weather at the moment, students can choose to wear their full summer uniform or full winter uniform during weeks 2 and 3. Students are expected to be in their full winter uniform by Monday, May 15. Sports days remain the same.

2E have started off the Term excited and ready to engage with new learning tasks and activities crafted by our team of Teachers.
Our writing focus this term will be on Narratives. To support the introduction of narrative style and structure this week, we have been exploring the Fable of The Tortoise and the Hare. Children were asked to develop a story map of the fable to assist in developing an oral retel of the story.
We would like to share some story maps with you below.
We invite you to engage in a discussion with your child at home over the coming days around the fable of the Tortoise and the Hare using some of the story maps. Some prompts to shape your conversations could be:
- What is a Fable?
- Fables have a moral, what is a moral?
- What is the moral or message in the Tortoise and the Hare?
- Can you name another Fable?
On Wednesday 5th April, students from Stage 2 and 3 participated in a Rugby League Gala Day.
