Lord, teach me to be generous,
Teach me to serve you as you deserve;
To give and not to count the cost,
To fight and not to heed the wounds,
To toil and not to seek for rest,
To labor and not to ask for reward,
Save that of knowing that I do your will.
Amen
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we reach the end of another successful term, I would like to express my gratitude to all the parents who attended the recent parent-teacher interviews. Your active involvement in your child's education is invaluable, and these meetings provide an excellent opportunity for us to work together to ensure their success. The insightful discussions and constructive feedback shared during these interviews will undoubtedly contribute to the continued growth and development of our students.
Additionally, I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to all the students who have consistently demonstrated their commitment to their education. Their hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed, and we are proud of their achievements so far this year.
I would like to acknowledge the tremendous success of our recent NAIDOC celebrations at Nazareth. This event allowed us to come together as a community to honour and celebrate the rich culture, history, and achievements of our Indigenous Australians. The assembly items and engaging activities showcased the diversity and unity within our school. I would like to express my gratitude to all the staff and students who contributed to the success of this event, particularly Mrs Celia Warfield, Mr Mark Mongta and Ms Leahnore Wright. We also welcomed, and were enriched by, the Yabun Gali dance group from Corpus Christi Catholic High School.
Looking ahead to the upcoming term, we have an array of events planned. Firstly, our Year 6 students will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation in Week One. This significant milestone in the spiritual journey of our students will be a memorable occasion for both them and their families. We look forward to witnessing their growth in faith and celebrating this special sacrament together.
Additionally, we are eagerly preparing for Grandparents Day, a cherished tradition that allows us to honour and appreciate the invaluable role grandparents play in our lives. This day will commence with Mass at 9am, followed by some refreshments for our visitors in the hall while our students have their regular recess break. After refreshments, our visitors will be led to the classrooms for one hour of classroom visits.
I encourage all parents and carers to continue keep abreast of news and information via COMPASS, newsletters and social media posts.
In closing, I would like to express my gratitude to the entire school community for your unwavering support and dedication throughout this term. Together, we have created a nurturing and inclusive environment where our students can thrive academically, socially, and spiritually. I wish you all a safe and enjoyable holiday break, and I look forward to welcoming you back for another enriching term filled with growth, learning, and memorable experiences.
In faith and learning,
Lisa Tyson
Confirmation
By now families will know if their child will be presented to the Bishop for the sacrament of Confirmation on either Tuesday evening or Wednesday evening.
The Celebration of Confirmation ceremony details can be found on the final leaflet distributed for Confirmation Program 2023. All parents and candidates need to be quietly seated by 6:30pm in the church on their given evening. Confirmation Candidates are to wear “Sunday Best” (Smart/Casual), no thongs, cut off short or singlets.
If they have not already, just a reminder for the students to colour their dove and place their name on it and bring it to their classroom teacher.
Wednesday Mass and Faith & Learning visits
Next term in Week 1, Wednesday, 19 July, Years 2 and 6 will be attending the 9am Wednesday mass. After mass Year 6 will remain behind to receive Reconciliation to coincide with their Sacrament of Confirmation. There will be no Faith and Learning visit for Year 6. Year 2 would love all of their families to join them in the classroom to enjoy a snapshot of their learning. We warmly invite all parents, family members or friends who wish to join the children at any of the Wednesday masses.
All mass times can be found in the All Saints Parish Bulletin and all other important information. A link can be found on the Parish Website: https://www.dow.org.au/parish/all-saints-catholic-parish-shellharbour-city
In Religion, we have been learning about the signs and symbols used within our Mass
celebrations. Students were given the opportunity to explore the symbols and understand why they are used. We then looked at how these symbols are used within our everyday lives. Here are some visuals we made to help us understand their significance.

NAIDOC 2023 Celebrations “Our Elders”
On Wednesday, Nazareth School participated in a wonderful day of celebrations for the theme of “Our Elders” NAIDOC 2023.
We began the day with a smoking ceremony prepared by Mr Mongta, as we headed to the hall take part in in our NAIDOC Liturgy.
Following the liturgy, we were treated to performances by the Yabun Gali Dance Group made up of students from Corpus Christi, Nazareth girls and boys dance groups as well as didgeridoo performance by Nazareth boys group and a very special song, sung by Kindergarten. It was wonderful to have so many of our families there to share in this special beginning to our day.
After recess, we had some very special activities including art activities, learning some Aboriginal dances, watching how damper is made and then getting to eat some and the one of the highlights of our day, was meeting some awesome reptiles.
Thank you to everyone for a fantastic day!

Netball Gala Day
Thank you to Miss Scurr for taking on the responsibility of convening the South Coast Netball Gala Day. What a great achievement! Also, thank you to Miss Steep, Mrs Smith and Miss Biggs for all of the work associated with preparing the students for the day and for assisting the students on the day. And of course our wonderful Nazareth Parent helpers. Without your willingness to help, these days would not be possible for our children. Much apprecciated.

NRL Tackle and Tag Gala Day
On Thursday 24th August, some students from year 5 and 6 represented the school at the Tackle and Tag gala day. The students had a fantastic day, showcasing their amazing skills. Congratulations to all students who represented the school, we received numerous comments on the sportsmanship of the students. A big thank you to Mr De Gabrielle, Mr Scofield, Mr Tonegato, Mrs Little and Mrs Pepper for helping manage teams on the day and to all our other parents/carers and grandparents who came to cheer the students.
2024 Representative Sport Trial Information
In the coming weeks information will be sent out via Compass for the 2024 Representative Sports Trials nomination process, this process will look a little different to previous years. Information will be communicated to parents and carers soon to ensure that you are able to nominate your child for their sport(s).
Please note that these sports nominations/trials are not for children to come for the experience, they are for children who are experienced and extremely talented in their sport(s). When the nominations have been received by the school, they will be filtered through and then sent to the Catholic Education Office who will make a decision about whether a child is invited to trial or not. When filling out these nominations, it is important that you include as much detail about your child(ren)’s experience as this will allow the sports team here at Nazareth and at the Catholic Education Office to make a fair decision regarding their nomination.
Please keep an eye on Compass in the coming weeks for the rest of this information.
