Dear Parents and Carers,
Enrolment interviews for Kindergarten 2026 are now complete. On Monday 23 June offers of placement will be sent to families. It is a privilege to meet with families and listen to their hopes and dreams as they embark on their journey at Nazareth. A consistent message heard from families is that Nazareth enjoys a positive reputation as a school of quality education, welcome, and inclusion within the wider community. This affirmation from families reflects the dedication and hard work of our staff, students, and parents in creating a nurturing environment for all.
CatholicCare are once again offering free parent workshops for our school and this year they are presenting a workshop on Emotional Coaching. The presentation will be held on Wednesday 25 June at 5:00pm in the school library. The session will explore how to identify and regulate your child’s emotions. For further details and information on how to register please refer to the attached flyer.

Learning conversations for students in Years 1 to 6 occurred at the end of Term 1. Kindergarten learning conversations will take place at the commencement of Term 3, bookings will be made available to parents in the coming weeks.

World Environment Day
Thursday, 5 June every year is World Environment Day where we. This year’s theme is #BeatPlasticPollution. Approximately one-fifth of the world's plastic garbage is produced in India. Every year, the nation produces between 9.3 and 9.5 million tonnes of plastic waste. This includes the daily generation of about 0.12 kg of garbage per person. Hence, Plastic pollution is harmful in many ways. So let’s be mindful of the amount of plastics we are throwing away.
Pentecost
This Sunday marks Pentecost. Pentecost Sunday is celebrated on June 8, and marks one of the most important feasts in the Church’s liturgical year. Occurring fifty days after Easter Sunday, Pentecost commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles and the Blessed Virgin Mary, empowering them, as Jesus promised he would, to preach the gospel to the whole world.
The All Saints Parish will be holding a Multicultural Day for Pentecost Celebration on Sunday. Mass will be celebrated in different languages. Parishioners are to dress in national costumes followed by lunch in the Hall. Parishioners are asked to bring national dishes to share. On the day there will be cultural dances and a jumping castle for the children. All families are warmly invited to attend.
Mini Vinnies Winter Appeal
More information will be coming soon about fundraising for the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal this term, helping those in the community less fortunate this winter.
Wednesday Faith & Learning
This week students from Kindergarten shared their Faith and Learning visit with their family and friends. Next week (Week 7), Year 6 students will have their Faith and Learning visit with mass beginning at 9am. All parents are invited back to the classroom to see what their child is learning in their classroom.
Kindergarten have been learning about Pentecost.
Billie - Pentecost was when the dove came down and spread fire on Jesus’ disciples' heads. The disciples felt the spirit.
Bailey - Pentecost is when the little flames came onto the disciples' heads. The flames went into their hearts. That’s what “Hearts on Fire” means.
Izaak - Jesus sent the Holy Spirit down. It was a windy night and fire came into the disciples house. The Holy Spirit gave Jesus’ friends hope.

SEMESTER 1 STUDENT REPORTS
As you may be aware, the NSW Educational Standards Authority (NESA) have undertaken a comprehensive review of the NSW Curriculum, leading to curriculum reform and subsequent implementation of a reformed curriculum which commenced in 2023. In response to the curriculum changes, in 2024 Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong made significant modifications to student semester reports for Primary schools to better reflect your child's academic progress at key points throughout the year and provide parents and carers with a clear picture of their child’s strengths and areas for improvement in specific subject areas.
The following will be evident in your child’s Semester One Report:
- A report format reflecting the outcomes of the new K-10 English and Mathematics syllabuses providing a descriptor for each of the focus areas found in the respective syllabuses
- All Kindergarten students will receive a written report in Semester 1 and Semester 2 with a three-point grade scale used to report student achievement using the following performance descriptors:
- Thorough
- Sound
- Basic
- Students in Year 1 - Year 6 will receive semester reports twice a year with a five-point grade scale used to report student achievement using the following performance descriptors:
- Extensive
- Thorough
- Sound
- Basic

PRIMARY SCHOOLS CHESS COMPETITION

1S have had a jammed packed 6 weeks full of new learning and fun activities.
During National Simultaneous Reading Time, Year 1 and their buddies got together at 12:00PM to read this years book, ‘The Truck Cat’ by Deborah Frenkel. First we had to read the story then we summarised the important parts of the story and wrote the summary on a truck.
Last week we enjoyed visiting the Church and sharing our learning with our parents during Faith and Learning. When our family members came to visit we got to write and draw about the animal we were studying: the cute and clever meerkat!
In Science this week, we have been putting our learning into practice by planning and making a toy. The design brief required that it be pushed or pulled (or both) to play with, and the materials had to be chosen according to their properties. Here are some photos of our lessons.

During Week 6 we continue to focus on respect with a particular emphasis on personal space. During the week students will be engaged in activities and reminded of the continual need to respect personal space and boundaries both inside and outside of the classroom. The children are encouraged to respect their peers' wishes when they tell me “no” or “stop” and to keep hands off when playing games on the playground.
