The days are moving on and we are edging closer and closer to the celebration of Easter with next Sunday marking the 5th Sunday of Lent. Lent allows all of us, an opportunity to prayerfully reflect on ourselves and commit to a new action which would align ourselves more closely to the person of Jesus Christ. In the context of our daily routines we all have room to adjust something which may improve a relationship or an attitude which possibly has been weighing on our minds. Lent is an excellent time to make a real effort to do something positive, to do something that is life-giving. A change for the better, time in prayer and engagement with the celebration of the Eucharist would allow all of us to be better placed to navigate through the challenges as we move closer to Easter.
Tomorrow March 25, is the feast of The Annunciation and is a day of significance for our world wide Church. The Annunciation acknowledges the announcement made to Mary that she was to be the mother of Jesus. This occurred in the town of Nazareth which is why Nazareth school places particular importance on this feast. To acknowledge the feast day Years 3 – Year 6 will attend Mass with Fr Joe our Parish Priest.
Our next P&F Meeting will be held next Tuesday March 29 commencing at 6pm in the school Library. This meeting will be conducted face to face and all parents/carers are welcome to attend.
Take care.

Reconciliation
Last Wednesday students from Year 3 celebrated the Sacrament of Reconcilation. The first of three very important Sacraments that children will make in their spiritual journey. Reconciliation is a Sacrament instituted by Jesus Christ in his love and mercy to offer us forgiveness for the times we have sinned and turned away from God. At the same time, we are reconciled with the Church.
A big thank you goes to the parents for supporting and walking with their children throughout this blessed journey.
St Patrick’s Day
Last Wednesday was St Patrick’s Day and Nazareth celebrated this day by dressing in green and learning about St Patrick. For a coin donation, students could come dressed in green and as a school we raised $595.20. All monies raised will be going to flood victims. Thank you so much for the generosity of our Nazareth families.
Keep a look out on Facebook and Instagram for the great photos of children celebrating these days.
Feast of the Annunciation
Tomorrow, 25 March is the Feast of the Annunciation and is a special feast day here at Nazareth. The Solemnity of the Annunciation celebrates the coming of the Angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary to announce to her the special mission God had chosen for her in being the mother of His only son. This announcement happened in city of Nazareth.
To mark this feast day, students in Years 3-6 will be attending Mass at 9am at All Saints Parish Church. This is our first school Mass in 2022. We would love for all families to join us.

Currently in Religion 4R has been learning all about Lent. We have been reflecting on our choices, forgiveness and reconciliation. We have created artworks representing themes such as Lent and reconciliation, while incorporating Indigenous Australian culture.
What a busy start to primary school we have had in KS! We have been learning all about how to work and play with others, and how to be successful learners at school through our age appropriate pedagogy.
In Maths we have been working with different ways to represent and count with numbers and have had fun using different equipment to show how much we know. In English, we have been reading books and writing sentences. We have also been learning letters and sounds and using these to make and read words. In Geography we have been learning about special places and special places.
We have all worked so hard this term, we will need a two week holiday soon. Our teachers think we are all superstars and can’t believe we have only been at school a few weeks!
School Cross Country
The school cross country carnival will be held on Wednesday, April 6.
The past few weeks have been busy with a number of reschedules and postponements due to the wet weather. Finally we have been able to attend Diocesion sports trials, as well as the MacKillop swimming trials. The following students represented Nazareth at the Diocesion sports trials:
Netball - Kate Lonard, Hannah Kosteski
Football - Harley Bermudez, David Stojanoski
Rugby League - Daniel Bell, Nate Ryan, Jacob De Gabriele and Cruze Scofield (Trials to be held Friday 25/3)
It is an outstanding achievement to be picked to trial for the Wollongong diocese so the students should be proud of themselves for making them trials. Harley Bermudez was selected to represent the Wollongong Dioceses at the MacKillop sports trials for Football, Congratulations Harley this is an outstanding achievement, Best of luck at the upcoming trials.
The MacKillop swim trials were held at Homebush on 22 March. Nazareth had two students swimming in the MacKillop team, Sonny and Morrison Cocksedge. Sonny competed in the 50m Backstroke, finishing 2nd. Morrison competed in the 50m Butterfly, finishing 4th. These are outstanding achievements and the boys should be very proud of that. Sonny now goes on to represent the McKillop team at the PSSA state championships in week 11 of this term. We would like to wish Sonny all the best at the upcoming carnival.

This week our PB4L focus is on revising and teaching the students vital social skills to assist them in interacting with others in the playground. The skills and activities that are being focused on are resilience, belonging, cohesion and problem solving, so that Nazareth students can play together on the playground in a safe and respectful way. Teachers will focus on the following key points with their class:
- How to initiate an interaction appropriately;
- How to include and listen to the opinions of others;
- How to manage emotions when we get out in a game, or when things don’t go our way in play;
- What to do if someone doesn’t want to play;
- How to negotiate rules and solve a disagreement;
- How to take turns and share equipment.
