Lisa Mammone (Year 5 teacher Middle Leader), Gemma Bolton (Executive Assistant), Cindy Casado (parent representative) and myself attended the launch of the Diocesan Social Media Policy which was held yesterday. The day was spent unpacking the policy and working through various scenarios that schools could encounter. An initial plan was devised on how to move forward with introducing a facebook and instagram page for Nazareth school. The launch day highlighted how multifaceted social media and the online community is and how we as a school community can best support our students, our staff and our families and the broader community. Cindy Casado will be discussing the day and providing further insight at our upcoming P&F meeting. The school will be sending home an information sheet for parents and carers which provides information on expectations of users of social media. The information also provides a quick overview of the policy and what this means for parents.
Congratulations to all children who participated in last week’s school Cross Country, well done.
Enjoy the week ahead

Principal
STATIONS OF THE CROSS
In the final week of school, students will be walking the “Way of the Cross”, the stations of the cross in the school playground. Students will walk from Station to Station with their class group on a given day or over a couple of days. Opportunity will be given to parents to join us on Thursday or Friday. Look out for times next week on the School Bag app.
PROJECT COMPASSION
Project Compassion is Caritas Australia's annual Lenten fundraising and awareness-raising appeal. Millions of Australians come together in solidarity with the world's poor to help end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity.
Each week a story is profiled of a person who gives 100% and is benefiting from previous donations to Project Compassion. This weeks story is of Michaela:
“Michaela is a 21-year-old trainee at Purple House, a dialysis center in the Central Desert for people suffering from kidney disease. With the support of Caritas partners, Michaela is helping to build a social enterprise, a connection to culture and a new outlook for the chronically ill.”
Please consider donating to Project Compassion. The Mini-Vinnies team will be promoting Project Compassion at school. Any Project Compassion boxes that you have at home can be returned to school by the end of the Term. Money will be forwarded to Caritas.
ANZAC DAY
ANZAC Day is the 25th April. We will gather as a school community on Monday 29th April at 1:50pm to commemorate this special occasion. ANZAC Day is a day when we remember, honour and express our gratitude to those who fought to protect our beautiful land. We are thankful that we live in this free and peaceful country and hope for continued peace – peace in our world, peace in our country, our communities, our school community, in our families and in our hearts.
Anzac Day is commemorated on 25 April because on 25 April, 1915, the second year of the First World War, Australian soldiers, landed to do battle at Gallipoli in Turkey. The landing at Gallipoli was the first time that our soldiers had fought as our national army. The soldiers who landed at Gallipoli were members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps – known since as ANZACs.
EASTER CELEBRATION
The most joyful season of the Church’s year begins on Easter Sunday. We believe that Jesus is with us as the Risen Lord. The message of Easter is new life. On Wednesday 1st May at 1:50pm we will be celebrating the season of Easter in the Hall with prayer. Parents and guardians are welcome.
SCHOOL FEAST DAY
At Nazareth, we celebrated our school Feast Day on the Feast of the Annunciation, Monday 25th March. The day began with Mass at 9:30 am in All Saints Church. Students were engaged in a variety of activities in the afternoon.

LEARNING WITH the Learning Centre
The students of the Learning Centre have had a very exciting start to the year. This term our classroom got a makeover and we now have all new furniture that helps us with our learning. The students have the opportunity to be engaged in “flexible learning” and choose where they sit in the classroom. They even get to do crazy things like write on the desk.

ATHLETE’S FOOT SHELLHARBOUR
Last week we had the pleasure of receiving a cheque for $315 from the Athletes Foot, Shellharbour. The Athletes Foot donates $5 from any pair of shoes back to our school. This initiative will continue for the remainder of the year. Just mention that your child, grandchild, niece or nephew attends Nazareth Catholic Primary School and the money will be directed to our school at the end of the year.
HARMONY WEEK
Harmony Week was from the 17th – 23rd March. Harmony Week celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. Look at how classes at Nazareth celebrated.
